Sport in the United Arab Emirates continues to experience remarkable growth and progress, keeping pace with the unprecedented development and prosperity witnessed by our young nation. The support and attention devoted to sport over recent years reflect the vision of our wise leadership, which places human development at the forefront of national priorities. The empowerment of young men and women, the enhancement of their capabilities, and the investment in their talents and creativity remain fundamental pillars of the comprehensive development strategy established by the Founding Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace. This vision was carried forward by the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and continues today under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and Their Highnesses the Rulers of the Emirates.
Fencing has been no exception to the generous support and patronage extended by our government to all individual sports. The UAE Fencing Association was officially established in 2005, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of this noble sport in the UAE, whose roots date back to the mid-1960s. Since its inception, the Federation has moved forward with confidence and determination, adopting well-structured scientific strategies and development plans aimed at elevating the sport, expanding its grassroots base, and nurturing successive generations of champions whose ambition is to raise the UAE flag at regional, continental, and international competitions and stand proudly on the podium.
Despite the Federation’s relatively young age compared to many international sporting organizations, its journey has been marked by significant achievements that have confirmed we are moving in the right direction. The accomplishments of our promising athletes in international competitions have inspired optimism and strengthened our belief that the future of UAE fencing is bright. These successes demonstrate the potential of Emirati athletes to achieve excellence on the global stage and fulfill the aspirations of our nation. Every great achievement begins with a single step, and every success story starts with determination and perseverance. We have taken that step and remain committed to continuing our journey toward greater accomplishments.
At the UAE Fencing Federation, our foremost objective is to represent Emirati sport with distinction on the international stage. We recognize that success requires dedication, perseverance, and continuous effort, and that the road to excellence is never without challenges. Qualifying for the Olympic Games and achieving an Olympic medal for the United Arab Emirates remain among our highest aspirations, and we continue to dedicate our efforts toward realizing these goals.
